Sending your medals through the post can feel nerve-wracking — and rightly so. These are irreplaceable items with enormous sentimental and historical value. The good news is that with the right packaging and postage service, they can be sent safely and securely. Here's exactly what we recommend.
Step 1: Package Your Medals Carefully
Good packaging is the single most important thing you can do to protect your medals in transit.
- Wrap each medal individually in bubble wrap or soft tissue paper to prevent them from knocking together and scratching one another.
- Place the wrapped medals in a padded envelopes, jiffy bags or a small box. ( we do not require the boxes the medals come in)
- Fill any empty space inside the box with packing material (bubble wrap, crumpled paper, or foam) so the medals cannot move around during transit.
- If sending a mounted set, wrap the entire mounted row carefully in bubble wrap and box it as above. Do not attempt to disassemble a mounted set for posting.
- Seal the box securely with parcel tape on all seams.
Step 2: Use Royal Mail Special Delivery
We strongly recommend sending your medals using Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed. This is the safest postal service available for valuable items in the UK, and the one we trust for receiving and returning medals.

- Compensation cover included — up to £750 as standard, with higher cover available
- Proof of posting and a tracking number so you can monitor your parcel
Standard First or Second Class post, and even Recorded Signed For, does not offer the same level of security or compensation. For items of this value and significance, Special Delivery is the only service we recommend.
Step 3: Include a Note
Please include a short note inside the parcel with:
- Your full name, Email and contact details including your address
- Your order number (if you've already placed your order online)
- Any specific instructions — for example, the mounting style (court or swing), the order of medals if you're unsure, or any special requirements
